Laguspe
Laguspe is a multidisciplinary artist exploring womanhood and identity through the interwoven mediums of oil painting and writing. Inspired by visual diaries kept since 2020, her oil paintings capture personal emotions and experiences of finding her own identity, using vibrant, expressive color to depict pivotal moments, the unseen dynamics of relationships, unspoken emotions, and the intricacies of connection. Drawing inspiration from the psychological depth of Paula Rego and the bold narratives of Nicole Eisenman, Laguspe seeks to develop a unique visual language reflecting her own observations.
A mostly self-taught artist, Laguspe is currently honing her oil painting skills at the Putney School of Art and refining her writing practice with the Escuela de Escritores in Madrid. She is also the creator of Rosa Pina (@rosapinalondon), an original character featured in her digital illustrations. Laguspe has exhibited her work in London through participation in group shows, including 'The Magic Show' at The Tabernacle and 'Art Fait' at Meter, and presented a solo exhibition at The Postroom Cafe in Chiswick.
