
Javier Torras
Javier Torras Casas, born in Barcelona in 1990, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores themes of space, human form, and materiality. He holds an MRes in Fine Art from the Royal College of Art, London, an MA in Painting from the University of the Arts London (UAL), Wimbledon College, and a BA in Art History from the Universitat de Barcelona and Università degli Studi Roma Tre.
Torras' work spans painting, sculpture, and installation, often incorporating elements of the human body and industrial materials. His art has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, such as "The Invitational I" at Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop in London (2020), and solo exhibitions, including "Gabriele Risso and Javier Torras" at Netherhall House Auditorium in 2022. Other notable group shows include "Making Public" at the Royal College of Art (2019), "Decreto 349" at Charlie Smith London (2019), "Reachers" at Blyth Gallery (2019), and "Leftovers" at Prenzlauer Studio Space in Berlin (2017).
Torras has also exhibited in "Young Gods" at Charlie Smith London (2017), "Practices of Enquiry" at UAL Showroom (2017), and "About Space" at Lewisham Arthouse (2016). He has participated in prestigious residencies like the High House Working Residency in Norfolk (2021) and the Radical Residency in London (2018). His work has been featured in Elephant Magazine and Creative Boom, with recognition in the art world continuing to grow.
